FAQ about the iTILT courses

The information below is under construction. It holds the information we have so far on the Erasmus+ KA1 programme. We consulted documents such as The programme Guide available at the EU Erasmus+ site: http://ec.europa.eu/programmes/erasmus-plus/index_en.htm 
More details will be published as soon as more information is provided by The Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) on the arrangements for course grants and other terms for course provision. 

How can I participate in the iTILT courses?
To apply for a place on the course you will need to pre-register.  Once accepted you will receive information how to finalise your registration by paying the course fee. See the registration form for the 2014 course here.

Can I get a grant for the iTILT courses?
iTILT aims to offer courses to the general public every yeariTILT will also try and design its courses in such a way that they can get support from the European Commission under the new ErasmusPlus Key Action 1 Mobility programme. 
This fund is meant to enable educational institutions to apply for grants at their national agency  for their employees (educationalists, (student) teachers and teacher educators who work (part-time) in Education and who are EU citizens (or inhabitants of aspiring countries) to attend these courses. These organisations decide on grant allocation. TELLConsult doesn't handle any grant applications and has no influence on who will be given a grant.

I am totally unfamiliar with these EU grants, can you provide more information please?

In case I am not eligble for an EU grant or the deadline for grant application is passed, can I still register for the course?
Yes, the course is open to anybody.

How can I secure a place on the course?
Paid registrations count as secure places.  Once you have pre-registered you will be informed on how to transfer the course fee.

What happens if there are more applicants than available places?
If there are more applicants than available places you will be put on a reserve list. The course coordinator will inform you about this. This position is not uncommon as the coordinator takes into account that many pre-registrants are confronted with the fact that grant allocation by national agencies may take a while. If you do not want to run any risks in this respect you are advised to pre-finance the course fee yourself, well ahead of the registration deadline.

Our school has received confirmation from our national agency that their internationalisation plan, including the professional development activities, has been approved.  I have been the green light to attend the course. What is the next step? 
To secure your place on the course you will need to pay the course fee. This needs to be done as soon as possibe but ultimately befor the course registration deadlines. These can differ each year. See the related messages in the Forum of the year you are participating.

I will be given the grant but the money will not be available on time to meet the deadline for paying the course. As I can't afford to pay the total amount of the course before I receive the grant I wondered if I could make a deposit of payment instead and so realise my full registration.
Contact the course director personally. Possibly an arrangement can be made for a semi full registration if you can pre-finance part of the fee and can declare the rest to be paid in 4 weeks time after the registration deadline at the latest. Please understand that the go / no go decision has so much impact on all involved (e.g. travel expenses) it needs to be taken on factual information. 

I need evidence for my course payment, how can I get this? 
Signed & stamped document (in scanned format) of all payments made for the course you participated in, including and hence confirming your course fee payment will be sent to the e-mail address you provided in the week after the registration deadline. Proof of attendance will be sent 5 days after the end of the course. 

 
What is meant with  the `go/no go for the course`, i. e. does it refer to me being selected to attend the course from a broader number of candidates, or to the course being held at all?
The course director will decide on a final go/no go the day after the registration deadline of individual courses. The course will only be run if there are enough full registrations (= course fees paid) to cover the costs of the course (preparations, expert fees, etc). Registered participants will be informed and - in case of a go - be sent an elaborate document advising on travel, accomodation and meeting venues.
 
After I have received confirmation of my pre-registration can I already start booking my travel arrangements?
This action is discouraged as the course director will decide on a final go/no go the day after the registration deadline of individual courses on the basis of full registrations (= course fees paid). In case the course needs to be cancelled only course fees will be refunded.
 
I have a question regarding accommodation. Will your organization take care of this aspect for us or will we have to make arrangements individually? 
You are expected to deal with this personally, However, once the decision is made to run the course (after the registration deadline) all full registrations will be sent an info brochure including suggestions for affordable hotels and student accomodation. 
 
What do I have to do if for some reason I need to withdraw my pre-registration (e.g. no grant received, other obligations, etc)?
Assuming this is before the registration deadline you are expected to inform the course director as soon as possible. As with all course related personal communication Include the course number. Beware that cancellations after the registration deadline have financial implications.
 
What happens if the course is cancelled after I have paid the course fee.
In case we have to cancel the course (e.g. no break-even realised due to lack of interest) your money will be reimbursed. Whether you can opt for another course depends very much on your National Agency policy, they may differ per country. So you are best advised to contact them.
 

What can I do if I have a question that is not answered here?
You can start a new topic in this general forum or if it is only relevant for a particular annual edition of the course submit it to the related forum.
