The iTILT project partners have gathered in Nice, in the south of France on the 26th & 27th March for the third face-to-face meeting.
Day One: After discussing feedback we have received on both the project progress report and the sneak-preview of the iTILT training handbook, we looked at the planning of the piloting of the website and the learning objects that will soon be made publicly available.
After lunch, we talked about the data collection, country by country, viewing some of the classroom film clips that have been produced by partners so far. We talked about the process of filming in classrooms and some of the difficulties that this implied, and how they have been overcome.
Part of the afternoon was dedicated to the selection process and how best to make the pedagogy implicit in the video clips clear to a future audience of teachers and teacher trainers. We want to make sure that each of the clips have supporting material available on the same page that make it obvious to whoever is watching what the teacher was doing and what the learners got from the experience.
At the end of the afternoon, we felt that we had accomplished a lot and that we had come to a definite agreement about the best way of displaying the classroom video clips and supporting materials.
Day Two: The first part of the second day was taken up with looking at the new design of the website, and the layout of the pages which will be used when displaying the individual video clips, screenshots of flipcharts, lesson plans (if available), etc. We also talked about tagging to make it easy for users of the website to find what they are looking for.
After lunch, there was an analysis of the pre-piloting questionnaires, looking at the data that has been collected relating to the teachers' experience of using the IWB,etc.
Then, we talked about dissemination and exploitation, with partners talking about planned attendance at conferences, papers and book chapters related to iTILT.
We also spoke about oportunities for collaboration with other uropean projects of a similar or related nature, and we should be able to tell everyone about this soon.
Finally, we agreed on the dates of the next online meetings and the next face-to-face meeting in Barcelona (in November). All-in-all, it has been an intensive but satisfying two days.
