Courses

The EU project iTILT offers courses every year for all those interested in the educational use of classroom technologies and interactive whiteboards in particular, specifically for language education.
The project aims to get its annual courses approved by the EU commission so that teachers can get financial support to attend them.

Aims and target groups
Our EU-funded courses are generally offered as summercourses. They are open to all teachers, from all educational sectors, interested in language teaching with the IWB, experienced or not.
Both course content and organisation are based on the experiences (teacher training, literature study, materials design) research and resources (training and teaching materials, practice examples) developed by the team during the two project years and beyond.
Key objective is to enhance participants' skills related to the effective use of Interactive Whiteboards (IWB) and to promote language teacher professionalism in selecting, adapting and designing IWB materials to support the integration of IWB in communicative language teaching.

Course activities
Consequently there is a strong focus on hands-on activities, sharing of materials and experiences and the coached production of materials, customised for actual use in the personal educational contexts of the participants.
To also meet diversity demands in participant cohorts in terms of interest, experience and job requirements a number of break-out sessions can be selected with topics such as 'IWB in p
rimary education' or ' IWB in teacher training'. The programme also holds a number of intercultural activities and local events.

Courses in 2015
We plan to run the course ' Using Interactive Whiteboards in Language Education'  again in July in Valencia (ES) and August in Amsterdam (NL). More details (draft programme, venue and animators) are available here. The deadline for ErasmusPlus KA1 funding by your organisation at your National Agency is March 4, 2015.

Previous Courses
In 2013 the course was offered in two different locations, to both enable educationalists from all (aspiring) EU member states to apply for a grant to attend an iTILT course and to meet the current demand for training among language teaching professionals.

One course took place in July, 15-19, at the Technical University Valencia, Department of Applied Linguistics, in Valencia (Spain). The second course took place in August, 12-16, at Aveiro University, Faculty of Education, in Aveiro (Portugal).
